The age of Averone was written by Atrus, shortly after the events of Riven. Like so many of Atrus' Ages, Averone is an island in a vast sea, inhabited by a small native population who are mostly fishermen. Atrus wrote the age in order ask the Averonese for help in escaping his prison on K'veer. Originally, the link between Averone and D'ni was to be closed following the completion of Atrus's work, but after the four years of work was completed, and following much deliberation on the part of the Averonese elders, it was decided that the link would remain open, and that the Averonese whom Atrus had befriended would be allowed to aid him in restoring D'ni and searching for survivors of The Fall. The status of the link to Averone is unknown at this time, but there have been no indications that it was closed or destroyed.
